Colorado Governor's Tourism Conference Professional Scholarship

Program Summary

The Colorado Governor's Tourism Conference Professional Scholarship helps tourism professionals attend the Colorado Governor's Tourism Conference (Gov Con) by providing complimentary conference registration and lodging at the host hotel. Recipents are responsible for all other expenses, including transportation and extra lodging nights in addition to the complimentary nights provided.

Scholarship Coverage:

  • Complimentary conference registration, including all meals during the conference.
  • Lodging at the host hotel for the nights of September 23 and September 24, 2026.
    • Colorado Welcome Center Program partners who receive a scholarship are eligible for an additional night of lodging on September 22, 2026 in order to attend the Visitor Services Summit.

Conference Details:

  • Gov Con 2026: September 23-25, 2026, in Breckenridge, CO. This annual three-day event provides opportunities for tourism professionals and industry leaders to network and develop new marketing strategies.
  • Visitor Services Summit: A pre-conference event held the afternoon of Tuesday, September 22, geared toward visitor and welcome center staff.

Applicants must be 21 years of age or older, a resident of Colorado, and meet one of the following criteria:

  • A small business owner, volunteer, or employee within a sector of the Colorado tourism industry that directly serves/or interacts with visitors and is attending Gov Con for the first time (up to 10 recipients).
  • A volunteer or employee of a designated Colorado Welcome Center Community or Program partner (up to 5 recipients).

Ineligibility: Scholarships are non-transferrable and limited to one individual per organization. State of Colorado employees and individuals working for businesses that only support tourism industry partners are not eligible.

The Colorado Governor's Tourism Conference Student Scholarship is available for university student first-time attendees.

Application Process:

  1. Verify your eligibility by reading through the guidelines.
  2. Prepare your application materials (Coming Soon!).
  3. Submit your application online through the OEDIT online portal.
  4. Applications will be reviewed, and status notification will be sent within four weeks after the closing date.

This is a competitive award program, and not all applicants receive the scholarship. Preference will be given to welcome center partner applicants who have not received this scholarship in previous years. A panel of Colorado Tourism Office staff reviews the applications based on:

  • Merit (50%): Your qualifications, experience, background, and eagerness to learn.
  • Impact (50%): How you plan to apply the skills and knowledge gained to benefit your career, organization, destination, or industry sector.

The Colorado Tourism Office reserves the right to select and approve applicants which best meet the objectives and requirements of the scholarship and demonstrate the greatest potential to meet scholarship goals and objectives.

The Colorado Tourism Office reserves the right to make changes to the Scholarship guidelines or to cancel the Scholarship in its entirety.

Recipients are required to attend and participate in all conference activities, events, and sessions, as well as participate in a mandatory conference follow-up webinar. Scholarship recipients must also obtain and maintain insurance as required by law. OEDIT reserves the right to ask and review evidence of insurance certificates.
