Colorado Governor's Tourism Conference Student Scholarship
Program Summary
The Colorado Governor's Tourism Conference Student Scholarship helps college and university students attend the Governor's Tourism Conference (Gov Con) for the first time. Students interested in travel and tourism will learn about the industry, develop their skills, and network with industry professionals.

A limited number of scholarships will be offered that cover conference registration and hotel lodging. All other expenses and transport to/from the Conference are the student's responsibility.

Scholarships will cover the following:
- Full conference registration, which includes all meals during the conference.
- Two nights lodging (minus incidentals) at the host hotel in Breckenridge.

To apply for this scholarship, you need to be:
- A student currently enrolled full-time at a Colorado college or university
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Interested in travel and tourism
- A first time Governor’s Tourism Conference attendee
Scholarships are awarded to individuals and are non-transferrable.
Applications for the GovCon 2026 Student Scholarship will open July 14 and close August 11, 2026. To be included on the mailing list for when applications open over the summer, please fill out the letter of interest form.
Colorado Tourism Office staff will review applications and recommend awards based on merit and availability of funding.
The panel reviews applications based on these criteria:
- Tourism Knowledge: dedication and passion for Colorado tourism, eagerness to learn, and knowledgeable in tourism and/or related subject areas.
- Career Impact: how you plan to apply the skills and knowledge gained to benefit your career, and the hospitality/tourism industry sector.
Up to five (5) students will be selected to receive a Governor's Tourism Conference Student Scholarship.
The Colorado Tourism Office reserves the right to select and approve applicants which best meet the objectives and requirements for the scholarship and demonstrate the greatest potential to meet scholarship goals and objectives.
The Colorado Tourism Office reserves the right to make changes to the Scholarship guidelines or to cancel the Scholarship in its entirety.
Scholarship recipients need to conduct themselves in a professional manner and need to attend all conference activities, events, and sessions. Recipients need to follow the policies of their educational institutions related to alcohol, drugs, and weapons.
Scholarship recipients shall obtain and maintain insurance as is required by law at all times during the term of this Scholarship. OEDIT reserves the right to ask and review evidence of insurance certificates.
